Presentation

The initiative’s aim is to open a debate in our region on the topics of unequal accessibility of bike infrastructure, bike-share systems and usage possibilities, reduce socio-spatial inequalities and improve the social accessibility of everyday urban and rural mobility, promote and implement participatory-based urban mobility research and planning engaging citizens and local stakeholders.

As a first step we started to map the socio-spatial characteristic, the existing bike infrastructure and connections to the urban bike-share system of the low-income neighborhoods in and around the city center of Budapest. Mapping and discussing the hindering factors of such an attempt on the example of Budapest is important to make longterm sustainable solutions for equal access to sustainable and local community-based public transport.
